The tenth edition of the Red Bull Elektropedia Awards will be a special one. Unfortunately. Because of the corona crisis, eight categories have been put on hold. However, the Belgian electronic music scene has also proven itself to be particularly resilient over the past year. Meet this year’s nominees!
Zwangere Guy are leading the pack with six nominations each. The
former owes its nominations primarily to his excellent EP Transiro,
while the latter released the acclaimed album BRUTAAL, of which an XXL
version has just been released. But the Brussels artists are facing formidable
competition: Lous and The Yakuza, who finished second in the Fresh On
the Scene category last year, has been nominated five times for her remarkable
debut album Gore, while Ashley Morgan, Damso, Eefje de
Visser, YellowStraps and Soulwax have all garnered four
Other musicians with more than two nominations: Charlotte de Witte (3), DC Salas (3), Glints (3), Hamza (3), UM! (3), blackwave. (2), Chibi Ichigo (2), David Numwami (2), ECHT! (2), and Martha Da’ro (2).

Voting for this year’s Red Bull Elektropedia Awards is underway at awards.redbullelektropedia.be. Music fans have until Monday November 9 (midnight) to vote for their favourite artists and releases. Their votes will account for 50% of the final outcome, the professional jury’s votes will account for the other half. (The same jury has also decided on the nominations after listening to 139 hours of new Belgian music over the past twelve months. That’s 382 episodes of Friends).
This year’s winners will, unfortunately, not be announced during an awards ceremony at Flagey in Brussels. On Wednesday, November 25, a special awards show will be streamed via the social media channels of Red Bull Elektropedia, Pukkelpop, Dour, Couleur Café, Paradise City, Horst, RAMPAGE, Kompass, Fuse, and more!
From Monday, November 16 to Tuesday, November 24, Red Bull Elektropedia will also organize an online auction with all proceeds going to LIVE2020, the solidarity fund of the Belgian live music industry. The following artists will donate exclusive goodies: Angèle, Soulwax, Amelie Lens, Le Motel, Charlotte de Witte, Pregnant Guy, Coely, Bazart, Eefje de Visser, Brihang, Oscar and The Wolf, blackwave, GOOSE, ...
