Every Sunday, the brand new community-based internet radio will offer a window on Ghent's music scene.

After Brussels (Kiosk Radio, The Word Radio) and Antwerp (WAV Radio), Ghent now gets its own online radio platform that shines a light on the creative local music scene. Located between Kunstencentrum Vooruit and the Music Mania record store, the new station will make its studio available for young crews and DJs from the area. Every show will be hosted on their website and via Facebook live streams.

"For the time being, we see it as an empty canvas that creative artists can help us turn into a beautiful piece of art”, says co-founder Ilja Bracke. The current weekly lineup has already been formed, but the organization stresses that the platform is open to whoever has a bright idea and the right mindset. The whole operation is managed by Treehouse vzw, who run the Monterey open-air venue at the Citadelpark, and additional support comes from Vooruit and the City of Ghent. The first broadcasts on Radio Ruit will take place on Sunday June 7.
