Remember the good ol’ days of October 2016? Well, we sure do! This was the month we decided to team up with Lefto and Democrazy for the third time to present you a new class of Belgian talent. A group of six gifted individuals were invited to perform at Kunstencentrum Vooruit to showcase their promising potential. Almost six months later, we wanted to sound out these six creative newcomers about their beginning careers, their experiences so far and their dreams to come. This time we pass the mic to UNOS!
What has changed since the ‘Made In Belgium’ event last October?
"The event made me more motivated to work harder and more consistent than before. It made me hungrier to explore and learn about music and sound in general, to further develop my own sound and to produce more material."
What has been the most memorable moment in your young career so far?
"That time I got invited to Lefto’s radio show, which was a surreal moment for me because I’ve been listening to his show since my early teens. My sister and I used to stay up to listen to ‘The Hop’ on Studio Brussels. I had a little notebook with me and wrote down the exact time when we really enjoyed a song so I could look it up when we were allowed to go on internet. So to have been a part of his show was a true honor!"
What do you hope to achieve within, let's say, five years?
"Within five years I hope to bring out an album - of which I can be happy about. I also hope to be able to travel across the world to share the love for music and learn from people who I meet on the way."
What is the best word of advice you ever received?
"I know it’s a cliché, but it’s one of my mom’s. She told me: “actions speak louder than words”. Less talk and more action, haha."
If you could collaborate with any artist out there, who would it be and why?
"Damn, it’s hard to pick one because I want to work with so many! But if I had to choose, it would be MNDSGN or Toro Y Moi. Both are great creators and I love the intimacy they convey and the texture in their music."
Any scoops you can give us of what we can expect from you in the near future?
"Maybe I’m working on an EP that might come out this year? Just maybe? Wink-wink."
