A dedicated 100% Belgian playlist exploring the boundaries of techno, selected by homegrown specialists.
As Belgians, we already know that we have a rich and comprehensive techno culture. Starting today, Red Bull Elektropedia is hosting a brand new playlist that's dedicated to just that. Every season, we pick a specialist curator who's free to select his or her favourite homegrown picks, explore the boundaries of techno, and make regular updates. So stop what you're doing right now, move the furniture and get raving.
After Cellini, fellow Limburg resident Klaps is the second artist to curate this list. Ever since this talented producer made his first moves, it’s been clear he could be a significant force in the Belgian techno circuit. After founding his brand new record label Get In Line and getting a weekly residency on Studio Brussel, it has become clear this guy has a knack for finding the raver’s sweet spot.
Additionally, we've asked Klaps to highlight eight of the most beloved cuts in his playlist below:
1. Klaps – A Little Bit of Psy
“I know I’m not supposed to select my own productions first, but this release has a peculiar story. Every week I ask my listeners on Studio Brussel to decide whether a sketch I produced sounds clap or crap. Many people got back to me about one track, and that’s how Little Bit of Psy, Spit On It and Sanctify came to be. I finished it up, sent it over to Reinier Zonneveld, and he released it on his Filth On Acid record label. I’m a big fan of the vocal chops on this one”.
2. Lukas Firtzer – Vitalize
"This guy was just starting to make waves before the pandemic, and it's great to see Amelie Lens push him even further. Techno tracks often don't have any intro's anymore – and this one does, in a brilliant way. The perfect track to open my set with".
3. Jan Vercauteren – Roll ‘N Rock
“One of the new kids on the block. He’s only 21 years old, but he has such a personal, raw acid sound. Everything he does is fire, and I have no doubts he’ll be huge one day”.
4. HI-LO – Athena (Ramon Tapia Remix)
“Don’t have much to say about this, other than the fact this is Ramon's latest remix. Simply banging techno".
5. SHDDR – Lights On/Off
“This is the second release on my own record label, Get In Line, which is a platform I want to use to give a chance to producers who may not have been given a chance elsewhere yet. This one by SHDDR is a banger I'm proud to have released. Can’t wait for the next release by White Noise".
6. Diatonik & Jeroen Meertens – Era of Rave
“Don’t sleep on Jeroen. For me, Era of Rave does the trick fabulously".
7. SWART – Power Lust Greed Fame
“A pounding techno anthem by a Belgian talent you should all keep an eye on”.
8. Charlotte de Witte – Form
“My favourite Charlotte track at the moment. In my opinion, her career is impeccable – and I’m proud to be from the same country as her”.
